HISTORY

Mr William’s and Mrs Daisy Yiu’s educational philosophy for their children centred on instilling positive values and character traits in the hearts of their children.    In their worldwide search and research into the ideal school that best fits their educational philosophy, they were introduced to like-minded educationalists in Singapore.  It is there that they found an education philosophy that combined the best practices of East and West and a traditional values centred yet futurist curriculum.  The  P.I.A.G.E.T Academy started in 2001 as an International School integrating the finest educational practices from both Eastern and Western traditions and structuring its approach based on the Singapore Education platform.

The adoption and adaptation of the Singapore education curriculum attracted very positive response from discerning Indonesian parents who believes in our brand of education and those from the international communities as well. The success of NationalHigh Jakarta School in Jakarta also attracted many like-minded parents in other Indonesian cities and some requested Mr. Yiu to enter into joint ventures with them to set up similar schools in their respective cities.

Mr. Yiu successfully applied to the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) for the schools in Indonesia to be the authorised centres for the implementation of the International PSLE (Primary School Examination). The eager acceptance of the examination from the Indonesian community and the schools is testimony to the international recognition and branding of Singapore education.

To enlarge and enhance the bandwidth and exchange of professional ideas and advice, Mr. Yiu successfully invited several international education practitioners, including representatives from Singapore and Australia to form an independent Board of Governors (BOG) of the schools.

Under Mr. Yiu’s stewardship and the schools’ leadership, they have prospered, consistently contributing to the ASEAN Scholarship and Singapore’s school-based scholarship programmes, trans-national experiences and fostering a close and very positive relationship between Indonesia and Singapore.

After more than 20 years, P.I.A.G.E.T Academy has evolved into not only educating the hearts of students, but preparing them for the complexities of the 21st century – facilitating and equipping them with the mindset and essential skills to connect the dots in their lives to help them drive meaningful change to make this world a better place.

Piaget Academy operates three schools in Indonesia located in Jakarta and Surabaya.  It has offices in Singapore and Jakarta.

Governance

P.I.A.G.E.T Academy operates as a Singapore entity to provide appropriate governance and quality assurance of the schools. Each Piaget School operates within a foundation (Yayasan), a not for profit organization that is regulated within a clear and defined “Structure and Governance.”

The schools are governed by a highly qualified international Board of Governors consisting of eminent practitioners from leading institutions of learning, corporate leaders and leading professionals in the fields of education, business and research. By conducting annual reviews of each school, the Board validates, advises and provides professional support to the schools.

The Board is supported by a Superintendent’s Office in Singapore that also provides administrative and logistical support for the schools.
Each school is managed by a Board of Management, who together with the Principal, is responsible for the educational well being of their school. The Board of Management and Principal report to the Board of Governors.

The Principal is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school and is also a member of the Board of Management.
